20th Annual East Bay International Jewish Film Festival
Join us at the 20th Annual East Bay International Jewish Film Festival!
2015 is a landmark year for our Film Festival: we are celebrating our 20th anniversary of bringing international and independent films to the East Bay. Our evolution from a 2-day run of 3 film screenings to a 9-day festival of over 40 films is a testament to the loyalty of our audience and the strong partnership of our individual, corporate and organizational sponsors. We bring the community together to create dialogue and build cultural bridges.
Our 2015 line-up includes many films that focus on the resilience of the human spirit in the midst of adversity. Such movies as the poignant Israeli documentary Do You Believe in Love?; the French drama 24 Days; the provocative Israeli film The Farewell Party, and the brilliant German saga Generation War emphasize the need to see beyond stereotypes and battle bigotry. We are proud to screen A People Uncounted, which reveals the generally unknown history of the Roma people; the powerful thriller Heart of a Lion about neo-Nazis in Finland, and the American biopic I Shall Not Be Silent about a New Jersey rabbi whose early life in Nazi Germany inspired him to march for civil rights.
Our Film Festival Committee is very appreciative of our two-decade partnership with our major presenter, the Jewish Federation of the East Bay. I invite you to join me in supporting Federation’s Alight 100: One Hundred Days of Giving Back campaign.
We thank the Federation, our sponsors and all of our festival-goers for building community with us… one amazing film at a time.
