Suicide rates among veterans and service members have been on the rise. To respond to this issue, JFK University is offering this FREE half-day workshop, providing information and resources for struggling service members and their families. The keynote speaker will be Captain Tom Chaby, a decorated Navy SEAL who is currently the Director of the Preservation of the Force and Family Task Force (POTFF) for the US Special Operations Command (USSOC). In this position, he is charged with looking for ways to build and maintain resiliency for the entire force of over 67,000 personnel and their families. Session presenters will include Melodi Billera, clinical and research social worker with the Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center at the Denver VA Medical Center, and Brian Anderson, Suicide Prevention Coordinator for the East Bay Division of Veteran Affairs. Representatives from local veteran resource and support organizations will also be on hand to provide information.
